Port Hawkesbury Paper Winds Project Registered for Environmental Assessment

Port Hawkesbury Paper Winds Goose Harbour Lake Wind Farm project has been registered for an environmental assessment.

The company is planning to construct and operate a 29-turbine wind project to help power the Port Hawkesbury Paper facility.

The project center is located 7 kilometres northeast of Lincolnville in Guysborough County and the goal is to begin construction this fall, and it’s expected to be operational for 25 years upon completion. They hope to have the wind farm operational by 2025.

Members of the public that wish to voice concerns about this project are invited to contact the provincial Environmental Assessment Branch on or before February 27th. You can email them at: EA@novascotia.ca or call 902-424-3600

Copies of the environmental assessment registration information are available at the Guysborough Municipal office, the Mulgrave Town Office, or the Department of Environment and Climate Change office in Port Hawkesbury.

Some concerns have been brought up regarding possible noise from the turbines and the possibility of environmental damage from construction.
