Federal election candidates confirmed for Cape Breton-Canso-Antigonish

It’s official!

Five local candidates have thrown their hats into the ring for the April 28th federal election.

The nomination deadline was Monday and Elections Canada issued the confirmed list Wednesday.

Running in the new Cape Breton-Canso-Antigonish riding are Jaimie Battiste for the Liberals, Joanna Clark for the New Democratic Party, Allan MacMaster for the Conservatives, Ryan Smith for the People’s Party, and Rebecca Wall as an independent.

There is no candidate listed for the Green Party in that riding.

A candidates’ debate is set for Thursday night in Port Hawkesbury, while a federal forum will take place in Antigonish next week.
