Inverness County gathering feedback for new Port Hood park

A new park is coming to the heart of Port Hood and the Municipality of the County of Inverness wants your input.

According to a release from the municipality, it will be at the corner of Main Street and Wharf Road on the site of the former Port Hood Consolidated School, thanks to a “generous” donation of land from Ted & Hermina vanZutphen.

The idea is for the space to be designed with the community in mind – especially youth – as a “hub of activity, connection and fun.”

The designers are consultants Glenn Group Landscape Architects & Park Planners and to help their work, the municipality says, there is a short survey you are asked to fill out to share your ideas.

After the information is gathered, there will public engagement sessions later this spring where design concepts will be presented.

Once a final design is approved, and funding secured, construction will start.

The municipality says a planning committee has been formed to help guide along the planning and construction phases consisting of community members and county staff.
