Child hit by impaired driver in New Ross beach parking lot

One man faces impaired driving charges after a hit and run involving a child at a New Ross beach parking lot.

RCMP says it happened on July 5 just before 7:30 p.m. along Huckleberry Lane.

Officers say a 35-year-old man from Chester Grant was driving a Ford F250 and allegedly hit the child and sped off.

The child was hurt and was taken to hospital.

Shortly after the RCMP found the truck parked on New Russell Road.

Police say the driver failed a breathalyzer test and remains in custody.
