Some upgrades nearly complete for smelly Antigonish sewage plant

The battle with the smelly Antigonish sewage plant continues.

Work was recently delayed on a new front-end screening system at the facility.

But in a social media post, Mayor Sean Cameron says he called a special council meeting on Friday to deal with it.

By September the town will bring more air into the plant with blowers.

Workers have nearly completed pumps that would push more oxygenated water from the back of the plant to the front.

They are also looking at drilling a well so the plant does not use the town’s water supply.
