N.S. announces funding to increase water supply for farms

The province is helping farmers through a dry summer.

They’ve announced $475,000 toward a program that supports water projects like wells and ponds on farms.

Agriculture minister Greg Morrow says they want to make sure farms have plenty of water throughout the growing season to deal with the dry conditions.

He says it will help them become more resilient to combat climate change.

Federal minister Heath MacDonald says extreme weather is continuing to create stress and uncertainty for farmers, and the funding expansion will help farmers protect their livelihoods.
