Removal of registration fees a highlight for Digby Wharf Rat Rally

Thousands of motorcycles are on a course for Digby.

The 21st annual Wharf Rat Rally is on until Sunday.

Lots of new things this year, including the removal of a registration fee for bikers.

Event director Chris Larsen says it goes with their theme of ‘driving in new directions.’

“That was very warmly received by the rider community. You do not need to pay to park your bike on Water Street, we call it the rally strip,” said Larsen.

Lots of entertainment is booked at the ‘Rat’s Nest’ on the Digby Marina, with events right through to Sunday.

Larsen says it takes a lot to put an event like this together.

“Our volunteers are the fuel that drives the rally. That can be said for any event, but when you’re a smaller community like Digby, the volunteer contributions are absolutely critical.”
