2-hour planned power outage for western Cape Breton

There is a two-hour planned power outage for parts of western Cape Breton on the long weekend.

Nova Scotia Power says it’s so crews can make critical repairs to the main transmission line running from Whycocomagh to Cheticamp. The utility says this work will improve reliability of service for customers.

The scheduled overnight outage will be Sunday at 11:59 p.m. to Monday at 2:00 a.m.

It will impact roughly 9000 customers in the following areas:

  • Big Intervale
  • Belle Marche
  • Blue Mills
  • Broad Cove
  • Brooke Village
  • Cap Le Moine
  • Cheticamp
  • Dunvegan
  • Gillisdale
  • Glencoe
  • Grand Etang
  • Inverness
  • Iona
  • Iron Mines
  • Jamesville
  • Lake Ainslie (East/West/North/South)
  • Little Narrows
  • Mabou (including West Mabou)
  • MacKinnon’s Harbour
  • Malagawatch
  • Marble Mountain
  • Margaree (Centre, East, Northeast, Southwest, Forks, Harbour, Upper, Valley)
  • Middle River
  • Orangedale
  • Ottawa Brook
  • Petit Etang
  • Plateau
  • Point Cross
  • River Denys
  • Redman
  • Scotsville
  • Skye Glen
  • Stewartdale
  • St. Joseph Du Moine
  • Strathlorne
  • Valley Mills
  • Washabuck (Lower and Upper)

The utility says those who will be affected have received an automated call and this information has been added to NSP’s planned outage page.
