Rain and heavy wind on the way for Monday

Nova Scotia will start the week off with heavy rain.

Environment Canada has special weather statements in place for the whole province.

They say rain and at times heavy, strong southerly winds are on the way for Monday.

Rainfall amounts could reach between 30 and 50 mm, with higher amounts possible in some places.

And the wind gusts could reach up to 70 km/h and over exposed areas 90 km/h.

It will likely start over western Nova Scotia in the afternoon and reach the eastern part of the province by the evening. They say the wind and rain will end from west and east Tuesday night.
