Liberals Call on Houston Government to End Bracket Creep

The Liberals are calling on the Houston government to end bracket creep; when, due to inflation your taxes get higher, but your income does not.

“The Houston government is profiting off of bracket creep while Nova Scotians continue to struggle,” says Finance shadow minister Fred Tilley. “It’s unacceptable that while people deal with some of the highest inflation rates we’ve ever seen, they have less money in their pockets.”

The Liberals say in a news release, inflation rose 7.5 percent in 2022, causing many people to find themselves in a higher tax bracket.

According to the Canadian Taxpayers Association, Nova Scotians will pay around $650 more in 2023 than last year.

The opposition says the PC’s need to help Nova Scotians keep up with rising costs.

“Budget season is right around the corner. There’s no better time for the Houston government to step up and end bracket creep so Nova Scotians have the chance to stay afloat,” says Tilley.
