Charges against a 59-year old Antigonish man after he barricaded himself inside a home in Lower South River.
RCMP say they received a request to check on a man at a home on Rogers Drive around 4:40 Monday afternoon.
The man pointed a firearm at officers, and then went in the home by himself.
What followed was an hours-long stand-off, negotiators were called to the scene and neighbours were evacuated.
Eventually, the man surrendered peacefully around 2:15 a.m.
He will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court today on a number of weapons charges.
