NSCC set to hold Food Forum

Are you interested in learning about Cape Bretons rich food history? NSCC’s Strait Area Campus is holding its first ever food forum tomorrow.

The event is put on in collaboration with Raising the Villages and Richmond River Roots Market Garden Society.

Topics such as food security, extending the growing season, food sustainability, and the history of growing and gathering food on Cape Breton will be covered.

The event begins at 10 a.m., with a pre-gathering a 9:30a.m., and goes until 2 p.m. tomorrow. Admission is free and attendees will be treated to a complimentary lunch made by NSCC culinary students. The lunch will be vegan and gluten free and will feature fresh, seasonal veggies.

The event is made possible by the vibrant communities grant and is the latest venture from Richmond River Roots promoting smart and sustainable food practices in the region. It is their first collaboration with Raising the Villages, a local organization dedicated to creating welcoming spaces to connect and belong.
