$2,500 financial aid for famers in mandatory evacuation zones

Financial support for farmers in the mandatory evacuation zones.

The province is announcing a one-time grant of $2,500 for farmers affected by the wildfires in HRM and Shelburne County.

“Our Department responded promptly, with staff reaching out to help farmers experiencing challenges,” said Greg Morrow, Minister of Agriculture. “These grants will help with some immediate financial needs. We’ll continue to work with farmers as they assess damages and make recovery plans.”

Details on the grants and how funds will be distributed will be posted soon to the Department’s website. Inquiries can be emailed to the Department: prm@novascotia.ca

Registered farmers in the mandatory evacuation zones who experienced business stoppages related to the wildfires will be eligible for the Agriculture Wildfire Response Grant.
