A woman dies in Digby County house fire

A woman is dead after a house fire in Digby County.

RCMP say emergency crews arrived at the fully engulfed home around 10:15a.m. Wednesday morning. The 47-year-old woman was inside and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Communications director for the Atlantic region Dan Bedell says the fire also displaced a large, extended family.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious.

Highway 1 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
