N.S. fishers rescued after taking on water near St. John’s

Seven fishers from our province have been rescued after their boat started taking on water off the coast of Newfoundland.

The boat and crew are based out of Sambro, N.S. and everyone is safe after they ran into trouble on Tuesday.

Two aircraft and two coast guard vessels responded to the distress call, which was made about 250 nautical miles southeast of St. John’s, N.L.

Reports suggest the boat sunk (Addie N Ainslie) and was out fishing near the Grand Banks when it started taking on water.
