4 MHLers to suit up for Canada East at World Junior A Challenge

The best ‘Junior A’ hockey players in the world are coming to Nova Scotia.

Truro is hosting the World Junior A Challenge starting this Sunday.

The week-long tournament features two Canadian teams, East and West, up against Team USA, Sweden and Slovakia.

Summerside’s Billy McGuigan is the Head Coach of Canada East, and says it will be great hockey.

“22 players from last year’s tournament were drafted into the NHL. It’s a pretty prominent tournament on the NHL’s scouting list, and it will be fun to watch,” said McGuigan.

A record 4 MHL players will be on Canada East this year.

Their first game is Sunday night against Slovakia.

All games will be played at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.
