Man charged in Barrington Lake wildfire to appear in court

A man charged with starting the largest wildfire in our province’s history will appear before a judge.

Twenty-two year old Dalton Clark Stewart of Villagedale, Shelburne County will be in Shelburne Provincial Court Wednesday morning for election and plea.

Stewart is facing three charges under the Forests Act, including lighting a fire on privately owned land and leaving a fire unattended.

The Barrington Lake wildfire last May burned over 23,000 hectares and destroyed dozens of homes and structures.

Stewart is also scheduled to be in court on April 10.
