Inverness County RCMP members and fire and EMS crews responded to a report of two fisherman in distress in the Margree River last evening.
The Maragree River Fire Department managed to pull the two men from the water. The 63-year-old man was treated for exposure and survived but despite the best efforts of the first responders they were not able to save the other man.
The 73-year-old victim drowned and was pronounced dead at the scene.
