The provincial government and the municipality of Victoria County are splitting the cost of new wastewater treatment infrastructure.
The project would help Ingonish Harbour, the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the Keltic Lodge to manage growth and to reduce pollution, according to a news release.
“Protecting our environment while supporting the continued growth of our communities is a priority in Victoria County. We know the Ingonish community has the potential for continued growth and prosperity; access to modern and efficient infrastructure will provide residents of this beautiful community further opportunity for future development,” writes Bruce Morrison, warden for the Municipality of the County of Victoria.
It will cost the province and the municipality of Victoria County each $7.35 million.
The funding is part of a $102-million initiative to upgrade municipal infrastructure, called the Municipal Capital Growth Program.
