Town of Antigonish Establishes Doctor JJ Carroll Awards

The Town of Antigonish has establish some new awards for local athletes.

The Doctor JJ Carroll Awards will support young Antigonish residents that want to take part in activities such as minor hockey.

The funding comes from the will of Doctor Carroll and those that qualify for the awards have until September 30th at noon to apply.

The award announcement was made on the towns Facebook yesterday.

Carroll passed away in 1987 and was known for working tirelessly for his patients and community.

He left behind a legacy of sports bursaries and medical scholarships to support residents of Antigonish.
