The Antigonish Affordable Housing Society is recognizing a dedicated member.
The Rachel MacFarlane Memorial Fund will be set up to raise funds for the AAHS’s community navigator, a person that help housing tenants to access services they might need.
Before her passing in late September, MacFarlane was working on two important initiatives. As the society’s new chair, she wanted to secure long-term funding for the community navigator position and to get local fundraising efforts going again after a long gap due to COVID.
The societies board chair Collen Cameron says MacFarlane was a phenomenal woman who shared her talents and commitment to social justice, and she encouraged the organization to continue to look at ways to ensure they have ongoing funding for their community navigator.
The memorial fund is expected to be launched at a fundraising dance at the Antigonish Legion on November 19th. The event will feature the Working-Class band, a 50/50 draw, and an auction. The event will run from 8PM until Midnight. Tickets will be $25 at the door.
All proceeds raised at the event will be put in the memorial fund.
