Road safety is a top priority for the RCMP and in an effort to keep citizens informed about enforcement on Nova Scotia’s roadways, the RCMP is releasing statistics on stunting charges every month.
In October, the police charged 18 drivers with stunting and driving at dangerous speeds on a number of provincial highways.
Stunting is defined as any person who operates a motor vehicle on a highway in a race or contest or while performing a stunt. Anyone driving a vehicle at 50KM or more over a speed limit may be charged with stunting.
The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50 for a first offence, six points on your license and an immediate seven-day road license suspension. If you see anyone driving unsafely on the roads, you are asked to call the RCMP 1-800-803-7267 or 911 if you believe it’s an emergency.
