Port Hawkesbury Christmas Parade to have a Sensory Friendly Section Along the Route

People with sensory related challenges such as autism are often not able to attend certain events due to over stimulation. Thats why a special sensory friendly section is being set up for Port Hawkesbury’s Christmas parade.

Natalie Stevens from Autism Nova Scotia’s Strait Area Chapter says they worked with the town to make this possible and the special section will be located near the Maritime Inn and it’s not just for people with autism, it will also benefit people that are sensitive to lights and loud noises and the section will be in an area that has available parking spots

In the sensory friendly section, the sirens and horns will be turned off and music will be turned down.

The parade will begin at 6PM on December 4th.
