Nova Scotia Liberals Calling for Action on Affordable Housing

The Nova Scotia Liberal Party is calling on the Houston government to make affordable and public housing a priority.

Nova Scotia currently has a record of 6000 people on the public housing waitlist and the party is putting pressure on the governing PCs to build more public housing units.

According to a statement from the Liberal caucus, other provinces such as New Brunswick have made investments in public housing units.

Housing Shadow Minister Braedon Clark stated that building more housing is necessary but their needs to be a direct focus on affordable units.

The demand comes as Nova Scotians are now paying an average of more than $2000 for rent.
