According to a report from Bonny MacIsaac, Warden and District 3 councilor for The Municipality of the County of Inverness. 2022 was a busy but productive year for her district.
The following are some of the highlights of what was accomplished in the district.
The completion of the water and sewer infrastructure project along Route 19 was a significant project undertaken by the municipality and the area will be resurfaced in the new year.
The Provincial announcement for the funding of a multi-use outdoor recreation facility in Inverness was another highlight and staff are working on a design of the facility based on community consultation.
The Municipality met with senior officials from Nova Scotia Health to discuss solutions for the numerous people using the emergency room in Inverness. NS Health will continue to monitor that situation.
The district saw an increase in visitation from tourists at pre pandemic levels. People came to enjoy the beaches and other attractions.
In the new year MacIsaac will continue to work with local community groups to support building projects and work to move forward on making water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.
2022 was a productive year for the rest of the Municipality as well.
Water and sewer infrastructure improvements are underway across the county, improvements that are important for residents and growing communities.
Housing is also something council is going to look at more closely and look at ways to solve housing gaps, especially as more people are moving to the area.
