The Guysborough County District RCMP have arrested a man and seized firearms after an investigation in Fox Island.
On January 4th, 2023, the RCMP received a report of an assault that occurred this past summer at a residence on Highway 16 in Fox Island. Officers learned that a 49-year-old man had assaulted and threatened a woman and that the man was also illegally in possession of firearms.
The RCMP executed a search warrant at the home on January 6th and safely arrested the man. The officers located five firearms, body armour, and ammunition during the search.
The suspect has been charged with assault, uttering threats, five counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and unsafe storage of a firearm.
He was released on conditions and is set to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on February 1st.
