Family Literacy Day 2023

The Strait Regional Centre for Education would like to invite community members to celebrate Family Literacy Day.

Family Literacy Day has been held annually on January 27th since 1999, to raise the awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literary activities as a family. It was created by ABC Life Literacy Canada.

This year’s theme is “celebrate your heritage” an opportunity to research your family history and to share what you have learned with others.

Family’s can work to improve literacy skills not only with books but by reading recipes, online articles, or even making a list.

SRCE believes literacy skills are essential for lifelong success. Encouraging reading and writing as a family will help students develop good listening, speaking, and vocabulary skills.
