Eastern District Planning Commission Recommends Old Building in Monastery be Demolished

At the last regular meeting of council for Antigonish County, Representatives from the Eastern District Planning Commission recommended that an old home on East Tracadie Road in Monastery be demolished.

The Manager of Inspection Services for the commission Sean Donovan, says complaints regarding the condition of the property were received.

An inspection conducted by the commission determined that the building had a lot of interior and exterior rot, and the structural integrity of the building was compromised.

Council accepted the recommendation to tear down the structure and a 30-day demolition order has been issued for the dwelling.
