A public hearing was held at The Municipality of the County of Richmond prior to the regular meeting of council on Monday evening.
The hearing covered proposed development projects including a development agreement to build tourist cabins on lot 18 Orion Crescent in Walkerville.
Warden Amanda Mombourquette believes this will be good for tourism by providing new accommodations. “There is no time like the present to change the tourism spotlight and making it shine on these little places.” says Mombourquette. ‘I am excited to see what happens with this development.”
The other development proposal brought up was to rezone properties in the St Peters area to change their zoning designations from rural residential to village residential properties, to allow for the development of new houses “There’s no shortage of discussion about the need for more housing and I am very enthusiastic about seeing this kind of rezoning because it is planning for the future.” says Warden Mobourquette. ” I am excited to see more planning for housing coming to the region.”
A presentation on these proposals was conducted by the planning advisory committee. There were no concerns from community members brought up at the hearing on either of these proposals.
The approval to enter into the development agreement for both proposals passed their second readings at the council meeting following the hearing.
