Halifax is featured in this year’s Oscar nominations.
‘The Flying Sailor,’ an animated short set in 1917, during the Halifax Explosion is nominated for best animated short.
It tells the story of a man at sea who was blasted into the air after the explosion.
The animators, Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis are from Calgary.
It won best animated short at the Calgary International Film Festival.
The Oscars are set for March 12th.
