18 communities across Inverness County have received funding for the installation of generators at community comfort centres.
The funding announcement was made Yesterday at a conference in Cheticamp by Inverness MLA Allan MacMaster.
MacMaster says these community comfort centres will be useful during prolonged power outages and during bad weather as a place for people to access shelter and they will now be able to provide emergency power with these generators.
Buildings such as community centres and fire halls are often used as comfort centres.
There is still time for communities to apply for the Nova Scotia Community Generator Program.
The deadline is February 14th and application information is available here: Community Funding and Awards | Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage (novascotia.ca)
