More Canadians picking up second jobs to combat debt

Need a side hustle? You’re not alone.

According to a new survey from BDO Debt Solutions, over one-quarter of Canadians are considering taking on an extra job to make ends meet.

About the same number of Canadians aged 18-34 have already picked up more work.

We’re also changing our budgeting habits, with half of us reducing non-essential expenses like travel and eating out.

As costs rise, more of us are dipping into our savings to pay the bills.

A third of Canadians say they’re so deep in debt that they’re not sure what to do about it.

Over 40 percent are sacrificing food and clothing to make debt payments.
