Rushton thanks first responders after floods

Daring rescues by first responders during last weekend’s flash floods.

The province’s Natural Resources Minister is applauding emergency personnel for their efforts.

Tory Rushton says he knows there were some close calls.

“It was pretty touching to hear from them on Saturday, and knowing they were safe. This is what they volunteer for, this is what they sign up for, to go and help their local residents and neighbours,” said Rushton after cabinet on Thursday.

Rushton says fire gear was dispatched to the affected areas from as far away as the Valley.

He also thanked Ground Search and Rescue teams, who worked tirelessly.

“My colleagues have been speaking on how heroic they have been. I’d like to also send out a special thank you to them, for all their services. They really stepped up to the plate.”
