I was super sad to hear that Jimmy Buffett passed away over the weekend! I’ll be the first to tell you I only knew a few of his songs but he had such a positive and laid back way about him that I admired.
When you think of the man, you think of a beach in Florida or maybe water floating in a pool somewhere down south. This was the case as Jimmy loved the sun and sand, but it turns out his roots run a little closer to home!
Jimmy’s grandfather, James Delaney Buffett Sr once called Nova Scotia home! He lived in Glace Bay for a time before moving to the States. Jimmy was born years later and after seeing a picture of his grandfather and learning of his sailing past, Jimmy wrote the song “Son Of A Son Of A Sailor”
He also went on to write the song ” The Captain And The Kid”
