Rain and wind warnings for Nova Scotia- up to 100mm possible

Rainfall warnings are in effect for most of Nova Scotia, with wind warnings effecting the northern tip.

Environment Canada says to expect 50 to 70 mm of rain with some areas getting close to 100 mm, beginning Saturday and ending Saturday night.

The system will spread from west to east with the heaviest rainfall totals expected later in the afternoon and into the evening and to expect localized flooding in low lying areas.

In addition, there is the possibility of elevated water levels near high tide late Saturday night or early Sunday morning for Atlantic coastal communities in eastern Nova Scotia.

As for the northern part of the province the forecaster is calling for wind gusts of 90 to 100 mm for Guysborough and Antigonish Counties as well as Cape Breton.

Environment Canada warns that there may be power outages.
