Scammers pretending to be an NSP worker

Nova Scotia RCMP are warning people about a new phone scam where a caller claims to be a Nova Scotia Power employee.

The scammer wants you to believe that you didn’t pay for your smart meter installation, indicating that if you don’t pay up immediately, your power will be disconnected within an hour. The scammer adds that a technician is on their way to your residence.

This is a scam designed to trick people into providing their personal information, including bank or credit card details.

RCMP are reminding you that if you have questions about your NSP account, or any other account, after an unexpected phone call, hang up and contact the service provider directly.
