Havre Boucher student finalist for scholars’ award

A student from Havre Boucher is a finalist for a Loran Scholars Foundation award.

Jakob DeGruchy of East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy is one of 90 chosen from more than 52-hundred applicants across Canada.

The Loran Award is a four-year leadership enrichment program that includes summer work experiences, mentorship and a university tuition waiver.

Young people positively impacting their communities are considered for the award.

After national selections next month, the foundation will grant up to 36 awards valued at over $100,000 each over four years of undergraduate study.

Those not selected will be eligible for a $6,000 Loran finalist award.
