One man arrested after 5 people injured in Antigonish County

The RCMP is investigating after five people were assaulted in Antigonish County.

At about 5 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of multiple assaults at a home on Paqtnkek First Nation.

A 25-year-old man, two women in their 30s and two men in their 40s were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested a 41-year-old man at the scene.

The victims and the suspect know each other.

At about 6 a.m. Friday, RCMP had posted on social media about a large police presence in Afton after a report of a man armed with a knife.

Police said he was taken into custody and there was no threat to the public.

Treaty Road was closed Friday morning while officers investigated.
