It’s April 1st and the carbon tax increase is now in effect.
According to the Utility and Review Board, self-serve regular gas is up 3.8 cents a litre to a minimum of $1.70 while diesel is up 4.6 to about $1.90 in Nova Scotia.
The federal fuel charge – or carbon tax – originally came into effect on July 1st, 2023, on proclamation of the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act and is adjusted annually.
