Construction has begun on the Pitt Street Water Tower Project in Port Hawkesbury.
All three levels of government are spending $3.3 million to upgrade the town’s water system.
This includes replacing the tower on Pitt Street, with one that is taller, narrower, made of steel, the colour blue, with the town’s logo on the two sides.
In addition to the tower, the town says the project includes, “essential upgrades at the water treatment plant and the replacement of a valve and instrumentation chamber.”
The town says water service interruptions are expected, and there will be many people working within the area.
The Pitt Street Tower is expected to come down by early August, with construction continuing until December.
