If you’re planning a European vacation for next summer, you’ll have another airline option.
Halifax Stanfield International Airport has announced a new partnership with Edelweiss that will provide direct service to Switzerland beginning next July.
Zurich will become the seventh transatlantic airport to be connected to Halifax Stanfield.
Flights will be about seven hours long and will be offered on Thursdays and Sundays from July 3rd to October 5th.
According to a release, Edelweiss is a sister company of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), part of the Lufthansa Group.
It’s named after the white flower, “which is a symbol of the Swiss Alps, reflecting the airline’s Swiss heritage and commitment to quality.”
Halifax is just one of three Canadian cities to be served by Edelweiss.
President and CEO of the Airport Authority, Joyce Carter says they’re delighted to welcome their newest airline partner and to add Zurich to their ever-growing list of transatlantic routes.
Nova Scotia Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage, Allan MacMaster says, “Europe is an important market for our province and this new route will support business connections and help attract more visitors to Nova Scotia.”
