MLA for Guysborough-Tracadie reflects on historic win for PC’s

The MLA for Guysborough-Tracadie is feeling good after securing a second term, with the PC’s knabbing all four seats in the Quad Counties.

Greg Morrow tells our newsroom, it was historic.

“The biggest win in terms of the percentage of the vote and margin and history of this constituency …it’s really humbling…very proud of that.”

Morrow adds, it was a team effort with all the work that everybody put in over the last 30 days, including the team in Halifax.

Accomplishments so far

He says, regarding the past three years, it’s about connecting with constituents.

“It’s the biggest constituency in the province, size wise, and they really make a difference to get out there…to different community events, meetings…even knocking on doors when it’s not election time, to get feedback from people, see how they’re doing and what we could be doing better.”

More work to do

Healthcare is a main concern and although there are improvements, Morrow says, it’s going to take more time and money.

He says they are training more doctors and nurses, with initiatives that center around free tuition for paramedics, CCA’s and LPN’s…and they are receiving good feedback.

“So, when I knocked on the door and I talked to a nurse or another healthcare worker, they’d say, ‘we’re really encouraged by what we’re seeing in the system for the first time in a long time and we like that you’re trying things, and we can see it.'”

Morrow adds, they are also looking at working on roads, lowering the HST and income tax, as well as raising the minimum wage.

“All good things to come in the next little while.”
