The medal honours those who have made a significant contribution to the country, province, region, territory or community or have made a specific contribution abroad that brings credit to Canada.
In a release, St. FX says this is the second time Dr. Hakin has been recognized for exceptional service in education after receiving the Queens Diamond Jubilee Award in 2022.
“In his over 30-year career, Dr. Hakin has been a steadfast champion of advancing education, both as a professor of chemistry, and as an administrator. He is driven by the belief that education has the power to open doors for everyone.”
Dr. Hakin is the 19th President and Vice Chancellor, and he is currently in his second term.
