Collision shut down part of East Bay Highway in Middle Cape

Part of Highway 4 in Cape Breton, also known as the East Bay Highway, was closed near Middle Cape due to a collision on Tuesday.

The RCMP said the collision involved three vehicles near the civic address of 8955 just after 10 a.m.

Traffic was backed up in both directions. There were no significant injuries and no one was transported to a hospital, according to RCMP spokesperson Cindy Bayers.

Bayers said people should drive with caution because wintery weather is affecting road conditions in the area. Between Big Pond and the Richmond County line, roads are especially hilly and packed with snow and ice, she said.

If you’re looking for information on road conditions, 511 can provide that information either over the phone or on their website.
