Scattered power outages after wind storm

Crews are working to get the lights back on after a windy night.

About 20,000 homes and businesses lost power across the province because of high winds.

The number dropped to about 2,000 by midday and continues to fall.

New Brunswick is also being hit hard by the weather. At the peak of the storm, 50,000 lost electricity.

Travel delays and closures

Expect travel disruptions: PEI, Digby and Newfoundland ferry crossings are cancelled.

The Tancook Ferry in Chester shut down at 6 a.m. and plans to reopen at noon, according to a social media post.

Conditions have caused traffic restrictions on the Confederation bridge.

That includes automobiles towing trailers, motorcycles, highsided vehicles including trucks, tractor trailers, recreational vehicles, and buses.
