School closures in parts of Cape Breton due to heavy snowfall

Some students in Inverness County will not have school due to weather conditions again on Wednesday.

The Strait Regional Centre for Education provided closures at the following schools.

  • Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy
  • Pleasant Bay School
  • Inverness Education Centre/Academy (Closed due to heating issue)

Weather Advisory

Environment Canada forecasts significant snowfall for western Cape Breton, including the highlands.

From Mabou northwards, Inverness County is expected to receive 20-30 cm of snow, with the heaviest amounts over higher terrain.

The snowy and windy conditions are expected throughout Wednesday and until Thursday morning.

Drivers are advised to be cautious due to poor road conditions.
