Trial of Cape Breton couple facing sex charges to wrap up this week

The trial of a Port Hawkesbury couple facing sex charges involving a minor is expected to end this week.

Daryl and Shelley Digout were charged in May 2023 for an alleged incident in 2020.

Then they went missing but were found weeks later in Richmond County.

The Digouts previously pleaded not guilty to failing to appear in court, being at large, sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation.

After the judge declared a mistrial at the end of October 2024, a new trial began last week.

The Digouts are representing themselves and will return to court Wednesday.
