Family of missing Cape Breton man waiting for closure after human remains found

The family of a missing Cape Breton man is hoping human remains found near Sydney, will bring them some closure.

Cape Breton Police said they were investigating after the remains were found by someone on Morley Road, around 5 p.m., Monday.

Relatives of Justin MacDonald are hoping they belong to the 34-year-old.

MacDonald was last seen at a gas station in North Sydney, July 7, 2024.

His vehicle was found three days later around 25 kilometers away.

Since, three men were charged in December 2024, in connection to the suspected homicide.

In a post on Facebook, family member Gordon MacDonald said at this point in time, details are very few until forensics can confirm the identity of who the remains belong to.

“Many families have missing people, but our family is also praying they are Justin’s,” the post reads.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the area.
