Man arrested in Antigonish drug trafficking investigation

A man has been arrested for drug trafficking in Antigonish.

On Thursday at about 12:00 p.m., the Antigonish/Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit, assisted by the Pictou County Integrated SCEU and Antigonish County District RCMP members, located a man outside a restaurant on Main Street who is believed to be involved in drug trafficking.

He ran away, but officers ran after him and arrested him nearby.

Police searched the suspect’s vehicle and found cocaine.

No one was injured in the incident.

He has been released on conditions to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court to face charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. RCMP say additional charges are anticipated.
