A Halifax-based navy ship helped in a significant seizure of illegal narcotics in the Carribean Sea.
HMCS William Hall departed Halifax on May 14th to join Operation CARRIBE, a multinational mission to suppress drug trafficking in international waters.
The Department of National Defence says the patrol vessel and an embarked U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment seized more than 1300 kilograms of cocaine on May 29th and 31st.
During two separate maritime patrols, multi-role rescue boats were deployed from HMCS William Hall to intercept vessels of interest.
Earlier this year, HMCS Harry Dewolf had a successful deployment resulting in the seizure of 750 kilograms of cocaine.
